Steven Beck, Project Engineer, Ryder Scott Company, will be speaking on "A Breakdown of the Carbon Capture Value Chain”.

The presentation will demystify the components of the value chain for Carbon Capture, utilization, and sequestration (CCUS). The focus will be on the challenges and technological advancements in capture, compression, and transportation as well as the incentives available to deliver economic CCUS projects. The presentation will identify main components in the value chain, related costs and ways to reduce the breakeven carbon price, and share economic case studies from the speaker’s recent work.
Steven Beck is a Project Engineer at Ryder Scott Company in the Integrated Services division, where he regularly performs development planning and due diligence with focus on costs, benchmarking, compliance to Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) with emission reduction and sustainable solutions.
Previously, Steven worked as a process engineer on simulation and optimization for facilities including midstream, pipelines, downstream, power generation, and petrochemicals including amine scrubbing, an essential technology for commercially mature carbon capture. Steven holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin, where he was involved in CCUS research focusing on a cutting-edge process configuration.
