Abstract:

We hear a great deal in the news about global warming and climate change and we also know the scientific consensus of this being caused by greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. A number of countries, representing about 20% of global GHG emissions have already imposed a price on carbon emissions and other countries are considering similar action. The oil and gas industry contributes 15% to global GHG emissions in the supply of products, and can expect to be subject to carbon pricing policies and regulations that impact lifting costs and influence product demand, if not now, in the near future. This talk discusses the background to the topic and explores the potential impact for reserves evaluators on reported volumes.
