Abstract: Ripu will be providing a geomechanical perspective to the field observations of parent-child interference. After going over the reasons for the observed interference, he will suggest ways to improve the stimulation of the infill wells to reduce the negative interference effects. Ripu also plans to go into the diagnosis of these events in real-time to prevent catastrophic failure. In general, the presentation will help practitioners in improving their PUD estimates for infill wells.
Bio: Ripu Manchanda is a Research Associate at the University of Texas at Austin and a Founder at Geomechanics Software and Consulting, LLC. At the university, he focusses on the development and application of integrated fracture-reservoir-wellbore simulation models and innovative fracture diagnostic techniques to predict, interpret and analyze field observations related to the geomechanics of unconventional oil and gas reservoirs. He has published more than 30 conference and peer-reviewed journal papers and holds two patents. Manchanda has a Ph.D. and a Master’s in petroleum engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and B.Tech in chemical engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati.
