Abstract:  Amid the recent slump in E&P stocks, there have been a number of articles about tight oil forecasts.  Everyone from individuals on LinkedIn to Wood Mackenzie and the Wall Street Journal have been weighing in on the quality of what are essentially reservoir engineering analyses.  What is the reality?  Do we know enough about these reservoirs to predict 5-year performance, much less 30-year performance?  Dr. Lee will give an overview of both the truths and fictions behind those critiques.

John holds BS, MS and PhD degrees in chemical engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology.  He worked for ExxonMobil early in his career and specialized in integrated reservoir studies.  He later joined the Petroleum Engineering faculty at Texas A&M, and became Regents Professor of Petroleum Engineering.  While at A&M, he also served as a consultant with S.A.
